Free music for projects - What can we use?

As students when we are creating a video project or any other school assignment or project we have trouble of finding the right music to add in to. We are most of the time not allowed to use the ‘copyrighted’ music sources which we would actually like to use.

However, there are some websites that provide music that could be reused or used for projects like this.

The website called Musopen music provides free music that could be downloaded – however you can only download 5 music per day. It is free and on the website there is some info about copyrights and public domains. Link: https://musopen.org/music/

The internet archive also provides free music to be downloaded. You should be looking out and see the usage rights correctly to see if you can reuse it for free , as not everything on that webisite allows you to do so. Link: https://archive.org/details/audio

A good website to trust and use is Free Music Archive website. It provides good high quality music and it can be used for podcasts, videos and other digital presentations. Link: http://freemusicarchive.org/

To find recordings of common sounds like bell ringing or dog barking etc. you can record them yourself or find them on Sound Gator. You have to however register to be using these recordings and after that you can download and reuse them right away on your computer. Link: http://www.soundgator.com/

Study Help & NCEA

20/10/2014

All students in Westlake Girls High School are going through examinations soon. So we, the TechWizards students, have come up with some ideas and applications to assist the students whether it be actual learning or planning out their study routines and time plan.
NCEA Pal Application

NCEA pal application is a very useful way to track your NCEA credits and grades on assessments. So, it makes it very easy to track your progress in different chosen subjects. It tells you how many credits you have in each subject and how many achieve, merit or excellence credits you received overall. It is available for all NCEA levels and is a mobile compatible application. This makes the application very handy to use. In addition, you don’t need to be online and the application is very efficient.

Stay Focused

Stay Focused is a Google Chrome Extension that limits users by allowing them a set amount of time to reduce time wasted indulging in non-educational websites. This extension also provides you with the option to block certain websites as well as specific time limits for certain websites. E.g. You can block a site like twitter or you can set a time limit per day, such as an hour.

This is a great program for people who are procrastinators and spend hours on timewasting websites.
